17TH NORTHWICH BEER FESTIVAL AT NORTHWICH MEMORIAL HALL
Well who would have thought after the very first Northwich beer festival that 17 years later they are still doing really well and now attracting more people to this annual event . It was so good to get back down to Northwich in Cheshire after missing out on last years festival due to working commitments. After having a meeting at Barnton Cricket Club in January this year with the Camra North Cheshire guys i just had to put my name forward to work saturday afternoon , and also saturday evening at this festival to catch up with some old friends and to also sample the many beers that were on offer. In total there were 60+ beers on offer as well as ciders and perries so plenty of choice to choose from if it was a first time visit for some people. The saturday afternoon session was busy and it was nice to see people enjoying themselves the bar was open from 12.00pm dinner time until 4.00pm early evening. After the bars closed down from the afternoon trade it was time for a clean around the bars and to check the beers over to make sure there was plenty for the evening session and to update the notice board with beers that had sold out. The doors re opened again at 7.00pm and lots more people started to make there way in to the main hall and to start to choose what beers, ciders or perries they fancied. The main saturday evening there was a group playing on the stage called Cheeky Monkey who went down well and had many people dancing to the ska songs and music that they were playing. The evening was going fast for us and when the horn went off for last orders the bars were packed with people getting there last drinks in, so all in all a great festival to work on and i must say a big thank you to the guys from Camra North Cheshire Mike,Gary Joe,Nick and the rest of whom had not put in the time and effort for this festival that if would not have gone ahead.
